Remembering Dorothy: A Tribute to a Blogging Pioneer

Really her name was Dorothy and I had followed her blog since 2012. I met so many when I first began my journey here on WordPress. Virginia Views | Country Living for Beginners

I had been trying to reach her for many months. I finally reached out to one of her granddaughters. She told me she had passed. I had feared that she was gone when I never got a return call. I miss her so much. xo

I had made it a point of dropping in to see Dor and Bill when I was in Virginia. I was on VA Beach seeing my family. So on my way home I took a detour, a bit west then north. We had such a nice visit. I called and emailed often. I remember when she lost Bill and it was just her and Elsa. I had met their new dog when I stopped by. She loved me and she did not do well with strangers Dor had told me.

I asked about Elsa when I spoke with her granddaughter. She said her dad, their son had taken her to FL with him. They still had their home in the family. It is a beautiful place, perfect for many who had horses and cows too.

Just thought if you had not heard about her passing. I would share it here, as we had many shared followers at one time.

Take Care
Rest in Peace Dor I miss you.
Eunice

  1. Thanks for letting us know. I, too, was fond of Dor, I once sent her homemade sugar plums for Christmas! She shared many humorous stories, like her marrying Bill against her father’s wishes and that marriage was rock solid lasting decades. She hated thunderstorms and would take a glass of wine and the dog and hide in the closet! I wondered about her failing health as she posted less and less. A stylish gal, always smiling, loved her granddaughters visiting, and sharing the beautiful view of the mountains beyond her home. She is missed… RIP dear Dor. 🙏🏼

    1. You’re welcome I had begun to worry as weeks turned to months. It was last May when she passed I think I was told. Yes 67 years together I am so glad I got to meet them. When trucking I had always loved that area. I am so glad you and many others will have fond memories she was very nice in person too <3
