Loving Watercolor as I do. I had mentioned the show coming up in Boston to my youngest brother, during the holidays. He said he wanted to go.
Last Friday, he took me out for the day. All my tests that had been scheduled were done that week.
See the tests had came back as having a few cancerous masses in my lungs. A Pet Scan now must be done to see if it has spread from the lungs into other locations.
Without biopsies they will not be certain of the type. They do suspect the love of my diesel powered, big rigs, is one of the suspects. The exhaust actually. Along with environmental things like handling asbestos.
Oddly not the cigarettes I smoked for 10 years, when I was younger.
We arrived early as traffic was pretty much behaving by our 10 am start out of NH.
We made a pit stop as he had bagels to buy for his wife and a friend. He bought us both a pizza type bagel concoction. I generally don’t eat any bread unless it is sourdough :).
So what did I think about the artwork displayed on the walls of Winslow Homer’s show? I loved it and seeing it with my brother.
It was an interesting walk through his life, led here in New England.
I would have loved to sit beside him as he figured out what scene to paint. As well as which pigment he would use to capture that scene.
They had both oils and watercolors at the show here at MFA.
They even had one of his palettes. Along with two brushes on display, at this showing.
I am not sure how old it was. It had to be from the 1800’s, for sure.
None of what was left for us to see looked worthy of any of his gorgeous paintings.
For me it was good to see. I also keep my pigments on mine, which is messy too, which is normal for any artist.
Sometimes I feel like an impostor. Painting is so far from the trucking life I led.
I have grown to love painting. I am not good at it but it is good for me. :)
We left after a few hours of being at the museum, seeing other art as well while we were there.
Most were Oils. I love the artwork some locals I know do, their work in oil.
They are gorgeous but they will never compare to Watercolor in my opinion. :)
I went away with knowing the sizes I paint, were good enough for the Masters. Which was truly an eye opener. It will allow me to create with abandon. :)

I’m glad you got to see the MFA exhibit. They have wonderful art. When I lived in the Boston area in the 80s, Saturday mornings were free admission there, so we went often.
I love watercolors as well, the clear colors and layers. I think yours are lovely.
