Art, Snow, and Meals: A Cozy Evening at Home

There is so much to share. Still, it is after 8 pm on Friday night. That 10″ snowstorm beat me up. Even though I was on a machine clearing the yard, I spent too many hours in the cold. All that climbing up and down wore me out. I have not slept 8 straight hours in years.

Brady loves this stuff his owners not so much.

Not sure if he should be eating the freshly fallen snow but he won’t listen to me.

The Eastern Bluebirds were frantic at the feeders. I took a cool video. I’m not sure why WordPress won’t let me upload it. I paid my account in full.

Always waiting their turn then the nasty Starlings swoop in and attack them.

By the look of my feeders they are eating berries somewhere close by. I feed them mealworms costing $50 for 11 pounds. This is why I buy custom feeders for the bluebirds. These birds were becoming endangered.

I have been working on art. I added 15 or 16 pieces of framed watercolor art to the walls of Breakaway Cafe in Dover NH.

The sun had not come around at that early hour. It was not until they were open for customers that the lights were turned on. Sorry, you can’t see much in these phone shots.

Great location and even better food and drinks can be found here.

I messed with some more creations from class I am trying hard to grasp.
I do the background and then try to fit something into the wash.

Calling this done and will try more studies until I can finesse them better.

I created a nice meal and all the fixings then sourdough rolls.

Now that I am home, it is nice to cook meals with many leftovers. It is also enjoyable to have fresh and healthy bread.

Time for bed. Boy have my Friday nights changed, as I get ready to turn 70 in March :)

Have a great weekend!
Eunice

  1. That polar bear is adorable! It has so much life and character to it. (And I am also in the “I hate starlings” club).

    1. Thank you. I loved how the bear has evolved from nothing. I think I will add it to the card section on my online shop. Thank you for knowing exactly what those birds are capable of. I have a good sized flock and step outside and the invasives’ leave, hope that is helping the numbers. I refuse to add boxes in this forested area as there are too many snakes and them. I would spend my days killing and I am just to tired to get into that space, I need to see beauty to create :)

  2. Lovely update. Are the paintings in the cafe for sale then? That could be a good income for you. Our sky was really bright last night, but cloudy and misty so we couldn’t see the moon. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Cathy. Brady, like me, is into routines and not always good ones we wake between 3:30 and 5 am as I have since I got him and had to go to work. I do go back to bed somedays but by 7 am he jumps on the bed to tell me he has to go out and I need to feed the birds what a smart dog he is.

Yes the art is up with price tags but having finally priced them as they should be which is based on $3.00 an inch I doubt I will sell any in the college town but they will be see and made a card or two online will sell so I know which ones people like. This morning I slept into 8am after my letting him out at 5 and it is lightly snowing once again. I hope this is the year we get enough to hold off any thoughts of drought again. I was so tired I never though to snap a photo of the moon until I saw all that blue with white birch and that huge gorgeous moon but zooming in on the birch and the scene I decided no closeup of this one was wanted :) Have a wonderful day. Is everyone decorating for the holiday in your part of the world? I want to walk Brady down through Portsmouth NH if the temps rise a bit too cold for his feet though the snow he doesn’t seem to mind. I worry about all the salt and chemicals they spread in our part of the world in the name of safety.

      1. That shot of the moon behind the birches would make a lovely painting!…… Same here with the salt on the roads and pavements everywhere. It doesn’t feel very Christmassy here yet, although lots of people have little lights strung up outside their houses. We do too. And candles imdoors. I’d love to go to the Christmas market, but it isn’t nice in the cities here any more and I would only want to go in the daytime and not at a weekend. I get up much later than you and yet it still feels like the middle of the night at 7.30 am! Have a relaxing weekend Eunice!

        1. Ha Ha I think 5 am is sleeping in as for 30 years it was 2 am normal for me when trucking. I should donated my body or what’s left of it to science so they can see what coffee, cigarettes for a 10 year stretch and no real sleep do to a human over 60+ years.

I have so many lights to put up but for now it is just Moms ceramic tree with old lite brite’s over the bulbs and an electric candle . I will hang Christmas cards that may come but I am thinking I will make some dried lemons, oranges and limes and string them in the window. I watch too many crafting segments as well as Sourdough recipes. lol

I know what you mean about safety in cities I miss going to Boston it was so different 20 years ago.

Relax and enjoy all the blooms your followers have sent you <3

  3. A busy few days, Eunice! I love seeing our bluebirds (my header photo is one). We keep our bluebird feeder off the deck so that we can chase off the starlings, greedy sons of guns!
That cafe looks like an ideal exhibit space, hope you get a lot of sales. 👍🏼

    1. I love my bluebirds and how the flock has grown but the bullies need to go :) I love this cafe the food and drinks are top notch if you ever find yourself in a need of a yummy meal or a hot or iced beverage it is a good spot to stop at, right on Central street and Third St corner. Then you are minuets away from Wentworth Greenhouses a beautiful spot no matter the day but winters inside are wonderful!

    1. Been snowing all morning you can have mine :) I am waiting for my sourdough to be done rising then make a load of bread and use discard in maybe a Molasses Ginger cookie. Boy what a life hey lol Have a wonderful day.

Love to hear from you
