Let’s see it was twenty years ago and I had 3 people living with me for a short time to make ends meet and to help one of them out I had known since grade school.
I had been hurt in a really bad accident and left with permanent back, neck and knee injuries.
I came home to a wonderful surprise. This man I have known forever had added two T Posts with all the hardware needed to add 4 rows of cotton clothesline. I am telling you I cried as this would save me from trying to figure out how I would dry my clothes and not have to drag them to the laundromat.
One of the clothesline posts rotted and I added nails into my wooden beams in the living room to hang clothes to dry, as I had a coal stove going and they would be dry in hours, not pretty for sure but cost effective and less lugging and cost.
Now flash forward and my mom is dying, and she insists I take what I want or need, and I kept saying no. I needed nothing once she was gone as it was her, I would miss, not things. Then one day I said there is something here I would love, and she asked “What?” I told her I would love to take the clothesline dad made for her when we were very young, she thought I was crazy, but the house would sell and someone else would get it.
So, my other half dug down to get to as much of these steel pipes and cut them off using an electric handheld Sawzall then he cut the pieces to fit in the truck for the hour ride home. When we got the pieces home, he began to weld them back together then we used a post hole digger and cement to secure them in a sunny location then I added brand new clothesline and clothespins to it, and it was once again ready for years of drying clothes in the fresh air and sunshine.
I have to tell you these 2 men gave me something even a diamond ring could not match.
That is love when you see someone struggling and you offer to help them even in the simplest ways as both had skills, one carpentry the other welding.

PS Having 3 brothers and a dad all with skills I have to say I have been very loved as well by them. It is not only words but actions that does it for me xo
I Really Dislike Dryers
Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved?
