Faith In Our Ability

It really is a leap of faith honestly when you tackle a project of this size with all eyes on you.

See that green doorway? We had to come up with a plan in order to close it in as it was on the checklist from the $600,000.00 library edition.

So our group “Friends of the Library” held a fundraiser to brick it in, as well as make a patio out front with a garden pathway, made up from the left over bricks. To be on the wall you had to donate $100.00 and for our front area $50.00 per brick.

The doorway was finally completed.

Potentially more bricks could be sold and they would cut out the blank ones or maybe engrave them right in place. The Friends group is always making donations to the library so they can offer even more, when some think a library is obsolete.

We are now picking Tomatoes, Peppers, Mixed Greens, Herbs, Squash and Eggplant
Corn is ready and Brussels Sprouts will be the last standing and yummy after a frost.

Finally Blue Showed Up
So many blooms
Success for those of us who worked in this area.

I am not sure what our gardens will be replaced with next year but from where I stand we, Teresa and I, showed what hard work and determination could bring to a community all the while tending to our huge gardens at our own homes but we are tired ha ha.

Have a great weekend we have 2 to 3 inches of rain arriving in moments then a hurricane on our doorstep oh joy.

    1. Yes I hope others step up 8-80 years old 🙂 We are getting heavy rains and a hurricane so hopefully it crosses the Atlantic and helps you all over there

  2. I guess you could do with some volunteers Eunice. There is so much work involved here but it all looks beautiful and you must feel very proud at what you have achieved. Good luck with further produce but take it easy. OK. Have a great weekend and stay safe.

    1. I feel great finally and Ron is off welding so with all gardens now under control time to get ready for a yard sale when the rain ends 🙂 love you take care has your heat broke yet?

      1. Still very hot here Eunice and I think we have another week of the heatwave. Oh well all we can do is grin and bear it with the help of the Air Conditioning. Thanks for asking Eunice.

  3. How fabulous! You and your colleagues have done a marvelous job for a priceless community resource. Kind of like the Maine Botanical Garden–it was the vision of a few dedicated women, started from scratch.

    1. Yes exactly and we love visiting the gardens in Maine and Mass as well as NH and VT such pretty places to be in. Thank you for knowing the dedication it takes xo

      1. I think when you get older, investing in some amount of body works gives back in more energy than you put in. Adding the mental reward would be a complete satisfaction.
