My place takes a beating each winter as it is not a paved drive. Dirt and grass most of which is cleared with tractor after each storm to keep ice from forming keeps it torn up for about 3 months then 3 months to fill back in which has me re-thinking so much about this yard and plans as I age so I can do less and enjoy it more.

So the plan this fall for me is to divide and conquer areas I do not need to really touch during a snowstorm and place the new gardens there as well as maybe a rock garden and a completely revamped food garden area.

When you are a homeowner like me with all of this land there is always something to do but I get distracted by the beauty that surrounds me does that happen to you as well?

Sounds like a big project, but at least you have a big piece of equipment to help you out. π And, if I had that visitor, I’d be distracted too.
π and he is just one of so many so you see my problem clearly π Yes machine is a heaven sent from my parents and is cherished.
You have a very nice one.. I think that is a good plan. I know gardening work can be hard (I say it is hard) to keep up. It is not something you set and forget for awhile but the end results and enjoyment working on it can make you forget about those things π
Yes it is an attention grabber and so long as I can stay focused so much gets done π between housework, hanging laundry outside and the garden club and library volunteering I do π
You have so much energy, Eunice! My admiration grows and grows.
I am a fat crippled woman now who just won’t give up to pain β€
Gardening is an ongoing process that never ends, it seems. Good thing we enjoy it!
Yes and it is good for us.
It is indeed, both mentally and physically.
I am beginning to view things a bit differently, too. When I retired five years ago, I built a new veg garden (the potager) to make my life easier. But these five more years of aging are nudging me toward more changes, so some of my flower gardens are being converted from annuals to perennials. I intend to enjoy them while I can, knowing that at some point the weeds may have their way. I, too, get distracted by the beauty and the sounds around me. So blessed to have a garden!
So true just having spots to rest our eyes in this crazy world goes a very long way towards peace within.
Itβs always good to have a plan, even if you do get distracted! We have been watching Youtube videos of TractorTimeWithTim for tips on how to use our new tractor so we will be shovelling dirt too! π
Awesome π I broke down and bought a new rider for the grassy spots my last new one was 35 years old and with the JD Tractor I should be able to do what I love until I am 80 π
