Yes it is very sad . One of the biggest strains on the water shed are the large cities that have been developed in the desert. Those areas were never meant to sustain that many people. It is amazing to me how natural resources are just taken for granted and considered and infinite resource. They are not and until Human beings begin respecting nature and understanding that fact things like this will continue to happen.
Food one can ration and live on very little , however, water is something that is essential to the body and the amounts vary according to climate. Just think if a person requires a gallon of water a day under normal circumstances. Multiply that by the amount of people now living in cities in the desert and the arid Southwest. Factor in the heat and the need for more water due to the stress and discomfort of the temperatures. We are looking at roughly about 19 million people. Even if they were rationed to one gallon per day per person we are still talking about 19 million gallons of water per day. We are not even taking into account the water used to bathe, wash dishes, wash cars and water lawns, not to mention fill or top off pools. We have not even begun to touch on the amount of water used and wasted by corporations in their daily course of business.
The irresponsibility is to be shared and the solution must be shared as well. Like it or not there is no path to sustainability and recovery of our natural resources , save through sacrifice of the creature comforts we have come to take for granted. The question is , how many people actually understand that fully?
We live in such a wasteful country as well.
People throw away water I see it daily food too if it is bruised while other countries have so little.

They will all understand when it is GONE it is HUMAN NATURE sadly right now we are so green OK will be too them getting too much we were do dry now a week of down pours has this place like a jungle even with this rain our water stations can not keep up with demand so they have water bans for no outside water use but you will still see idiots with sprinkler systems on in the pouring rain I say FINE THEM FOR BEING STUPID a DUMB TAX lol
