From the FLAGS you can see they are not all from HERE
They work so hard moving the sand, packing it tight and then start to make it into something ,besides a pile of sand.
Many hours will go into each ones piece
Hot and Dirty or Cold and Wet they do not quit!
This one is MY ALL TIME FAVORITE!
White barrels were full of water used to tighten up the sand
Two local companies represented
Each year special sand is trucked in for our Hampton Beach Sand Castle Competition.
They work with very few breaks.
Rain and Wind are a given for this competition.
Sunburns too!
They pack the sand.
They use cool tools, most of which we can find at home.
Straws even.
Thousands come by during the week to watch them build, then to cast their vote.
This is just the “crowds favorite” sandcastle.
There will be judges who will pick the top ones, who will get the CASH PRIZES.
Do you have sandcastle contests where you live?
I love seeing what they come up with year after year.
They work under bright lights, into the night this is when we go to just enjoy , sunrise is when I go for the photos.
Hope you enjoy playing in the sand when you hit the beach.

Reblogged this on 20 Lines A Day.
Wonderful!! I do wish I had these skills!
Me too but they take the special sand away so we can’t play lol bet they wish they had piled it up for storm we are said to be getting lots of homes will wash into the sea if it is as bad as they say it will be
Oh no, I’ve heard! Stay safe!
Thanks we are tough so we should be OK lol
ME TOO!
These are amazing! Some people are just so clever with their hands. When I was little my Dad used to build us a helter skelter (tornado slide?) for our beach balls to roll down, but I never had the patience to try building something myself!
Wow in this country Helter Skelter means such a different thing lol
Your Dad was cool like mine he loved you and took time to play with you
After Mom had 4 of us the play time was cut with how hard he worked but he loved us so much
Thanks for sharing your memory do you have a photo? Maybe I could ask one of the men who come each year to make us on here 🙂
You need to learn patience now I know when I look at those tiny seed beads I work with I never could have made just one piece 20 years ago I just was not ready to just BE
Eunice
Thanks Eunice – I think patience can be learnt… it doesn’t always come naturally. 😀 A shame, but I don’t think we have any photos of those sand “castles”!
😦 too bad now you will have to make one and take a photo so I can SEE it 🙂
I Just love this post, what wonderful sculptings. I like to see things produced from vertually nothing. Fantastic.
Me too! They truck it in they build then knock them down and haul it away year after year I am sure you can see better photos taken by professionals lol
http://www.hamptonbeachsandcastlecompetion.com (?) something like that 🙂
Ahh memories of being at the beach when the kids were little..
Grab that bucket…no wait the tide is coming in…
pack it tighter
where’s the moat?
run find some shells or a twig for the top turret
what do you mean you don’t want to?
looking at these we had no hope from the beginning! 🙂
lol but FUN STILL
you said it perfectly that is how I made some for my step son
He loved my attempts
🙂
Eunice
I love your “All Time Favorite” too, Eunice… amazing talent!
Thanks
🙂
Those sculptures are very cool. I’ve never seen a sand castle building extravaganza. Around here it’s ice sculptures, and some of them are unbelievable. Seasonal, but still unbelievable.
We have ice sculptures around New Years Eve here in NH area and this contest is every year in NH and they have one in Revere Beach MA and on VA Beach too they come from all over to enter big prize money 🙂
So beautiful and such dedication!
🙂 they must have taken over their childhood sandboxes 🙂
Awesome process and results. A far cry from my childhood castles in the sand! 🙂
I know right but this would be my perfect job when I am really retired of my own doing every day a beach day lol be still my HEART
Are these beautiful sandcastles gone now?
Yes just allowed to stay in place one week for viewing then the sand is hauled away 😦
Thanks for sharing. http://www.segmaiton.com
